How to help

What has to be done on the project?

First of all, the project has to have the core skeleton written, such as the weapons, gameplay, experience points, custom entities used by the game and the NPCs. A lot of that is already done but help is need to move this project forward in a timely manner. Also in certain areas experienced coders would help us to avoid mistakes. If you are a coder or artist and you are willing to help, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact us in our forum. We would be glad to move such a beautiful and unique game towards an up to date engine with your help. To see how far we are yet, check out our Status page.

I want to help but I am not a programmer/artist

We also need people who can model, are able to create maps, and even the little stuff such as choreography, sounds, scripts and even the particles. A native english speaker fixing our horrible grammar, help on the project website. The more people work on it, the faster it will be done. If you wish to help, please write about what you can help on in our forum or send us an email.

What does the project need?

  • Modelers

Improve quality of existing models/complete remake, from characters, weapons and various other models. Skinning (Bone deformation) would be awesome.

  • Texture Artist

Improve quality of existing textures or complete remake of existing textures for the maps and props.

  • Programmer

C++ skills are required. Experience with the Alien Swarm SDK is not essential but certainly a bonus. A lot is already implemented but certain areas like an inventory or improvements to the dialog system need certainly more attention. Also certain graphic related jobs need to be done like the particle system, converting it to Alien Swarm or complete recreation.

  • Mapper

A mapper willing to help tweak the existing levels. Fixing bugs, altering visuals or general improvements. Your help is needed.

Hey people!

I'd love to help making this game in top condition. I am very skilled in Source SDK (Hammer Editor) but a novice in 3d-modelling (I got licenses for 3dsmax, Maya etc). I love "refurnish" maps in games and I think I would like to give this a try. If you need my help please message me on the mail I registered.

I'm a 3d artist, and i would be glad to help with some of the models & textures.

If you could explain the work flow that you use atrblizzard for exporting the models and then importing them, i can work on them in my free time.

Hey my name is Justin or Ki11s0n3 on Steam and various other places. I have mentioned to artblizzard about wanting to help. Besides testing ^_^ I am interested in mapping though I don't really know where to begin. I would also be willing to help work on any audio that is needed, I just need to know the best way to go about this stuff since it has been years since I have done anything so a little helping hand would be appreciated.

For 3ds Max there's a nice MaxScript utility you can use to achieve that, namely Wall Worm Model Tools, which can minimize the time you need to spend getting everything done manually into the game.

That wouldn't exclude any Australian visiting L.A., in fact, isn't E. Australian?

Luckily the facial animations are easily being handled in SFM, but for creating model flexes, it's definitely time consuming.

Invitation accepted, and welcome aboard! :)
